Cameroon bishops have announced that after the funeral of Bishop Jean Marie Benoit Bala on August 2 and 3, they will file a law suit for the assassin of the prelate to face justice.
Archbishop Samuel Kleda, President of the National Episcopal Conference of Cameroon has signed a press release announcing that the Catholic Church will file a law suit against Mr ‘X’ for the murder of Bishop Jean Marie Benoit Bala. The release says the case file will be handed to a group of lawyers who will represent the church in the “search for the truth.”In the release dated July 17, 2017, the Bishop of Douala confirms reports that he was accompanied to the mortuary of the Yaounde General Hospital by Bishop Jean Mbarga of Yaounde and Bishop Abraham Kome, Apostolic Administrator of the Bafia Diocese who doubles as Bishop of Bafang. They identified the mortal remains of Bishop Bala at the hospital morgue.

It should be noted that the Catholic Church is currently at daggers-drawn with the government of Cameroon. While the government is trying to propagate a controversial autopsy which suggests Bishop Bala committed suicide by drowning, the Catholic Church, through Archbishop Samuel Kleda maintains he was murdered by “dark forces” which he says are fighting the church.
