The Attorney General at the Court of Appeal of the Center Region has instructed the Directorate of the Judicial Police and the Central Investigation of the Gendarmerie to select the best of its high-level investigators to elucidate the mystery of the death of the Bishop of Bafia, Jean-Benoît Balla.
In a statement issued on Friday afternoon, the Attorney General at the Court of Appeals of the Center stated that a judicial inquiry had been opened for “MURDER” not suicide as earlier earlier reported by the media. He emphases that this should be jointly carried out by the Directorate of the Judicial Police and the Central Judicial Research Service of the National Gendarmerie considered Cameroon’s best investigation units.

Jean Fils Ntamack specifies that the two services will be placed under the authority of the State Counsel appointed to Bafia and Monatélé court of First Instance who will be directly answerable to Attorney General to the Court of Appeal of the Center Region.

After his disappearance, the car of Bishop Jean-Marie Benoït Balla was found Wednesday 31 May 2017 near the river in Ebebda about 90 Kilometers from Yaounde, Capital of Cameroon.

The body of the dead bishop was later on found 19 KM from the bridge where car was parked on the bridge with his personal documents, 3 days later. His corpse have been taken to the General Hospital of Yaounde Mortuary while investigations are being followed. It is worth noting that, Monsignor Balla died at the age of 58.
