The powers of Edith Kah Walla as President of the CPP has come under serious threat. A few days after the party said it would not be part of the National celebration, the Vice President of the movement has sent a communiqué calling on party members not to heed the call of Edith Kah Walla.
The counter circular signed by Gerard Ndeby and read over the CRTV calls on militants to pour out in their numbers for the National day. The situation has exposed a rift between the President and his Vice and observers say it's the start of a bitter rivalry between the pair.
Reacting to the VPs move, the Secretary General Frank Essi says Gerard Ndeby has been inactive in the party's activities and has no right to challenge the authority of the President. He tackled the state media for misinforming the public since CRTV did not consult the President of the CPP.

Observers say government's back hand Could be behind the rivalry as Gerard Ndeby is alleged to be a ploy used to sow discord in the party. It's said in some quarters that the disintegration of the UPC is thanks to government gimmicks and the firebrand CPP might suffer the same fate. It remains to be seen if disciplinary action will be taken against the recalcitrant Vice President.
