The struggle is real. Teachers are making the biggest sacrifice. This is the moment to rise up for them. This is a letter from the Catholic Education Secretary saying that from the month of March, they will not be able to pay teachers anymore.
The same is true for all Catholic, Baptist, Presbyterian Missions. Last month, I called on the diaspora to ensure that teachers who are renting in buildings that you have direct control over should be exempted from paying rents. If you have relatives or friends with teachers in their houses, please ask them to stop collecting rents. You may give them the equivalent of the house rents the teachers usually pay to your relatives or friends.
Also, like I said in Brussels, the adopting a teacher project by SCACUF is a wonderful initiative to push through. I think we should get to these mission institutions to provide a data of teachers with phone contacts so that each and everyone of us should adopt a teacher. The struggle is real and the heros and heroines are all those back home who are sacrificing for this struggle.
This is the moment we put our hands into the pockets to safe the teachers. When you safe the teachers, you safe the struggle. We should not forget lawyers too. They too are private and depend on clients to make a living.
I would be pushing this more within the consortium.
