The medal was confered on him this Wednesday 22nd March 2017 by the President of Rectors of Italian Universities Gaetano Manfredi.
He was honoured for positive efforts in promoting University education in Cameroon.The ceremony was highlighted with the chanting of both Countrys' National anthems by the Glorious voices of the University of Yaounde I Cameroon.
The President of Rectors of all Italian Universities, Professor Gaetano Manfredi delivered the welcome address.
Mr. Biya during the occasion outlined strategies by the Government to boost University Education in Cameroon. He mentioned:

Above all President Biya evoked the fruitful bilateral ties between Italy and Cameroon in the domain of Education as a big step forward .
Cameroon's Chief Executive was accompanied by his wife Chantal Biya and members of his delegation including the Minister of Higher Education Jaque Fame Ndongo.
The Rome university meeting came after the Cameroon- Italy Business Forum.
Next on the agenda is a meeting with the Cameroonian community resident in Italy.
