Breaking News ... George Ngwane A Member Of The Outlawed Consortium in Southern Cameroon Appointed As A Member Of President Paul Biya's "Bilingualism Commission"

George Ngwane, an advisory board member of the outlawed Consortium in Southern Cameroons has been appointed by President Paul Bartholomew Biya Bi Mvondo as a member of his "Bilingualism Commission."

Former Colonial PM Mafany Musonge has been appointed Chairman of the same Commission.

Tapang's take:

1. Is the Consortium still illegal? Has the ban been lifted? Well, as we earlier stated in an official Consortium release, the Consortium do not approve of Biya's Commission because it cannot hold any meaningful inclusive dialogue.
2. Also, its members are hand-picked by Mr. Biya, 84, and our problem is not a bilingualism problem.

3. President Paul Biya did not contact the jailed leaders to seek their consent before appointing our board member Mr. George Ngwane. Neither did he consult the interim leaders of the Consortium. Mr. George Ngwane still remains a Consortium board member on the advisory council. He is one of Africa's leading pan-Africanists in the likes of Mwalimu Mandela and Nkwame Nkruma.
