Mariah Carey’s breakup with James Packer could jeopardize the future and success of her upcoming reality show, Gossip Cop has exclusively learned. The issue is particularly pressing because “Mariah’s World” is slated to premiere on E! on December 4.
Filming for the highly-anticipated series took place over the course of the past year. While the program primarily focuses on Carey and her career, the cameras also recorded much of the singer’s relationship with Packer. In fact, the so-called “B storyline” was intended to be about the couple’s wedding plans.
But now that the engagement is off, E! is “freaking out,” a source exclusively tells Gossip Cop. The network had hoped Carey’s journey to marriage would draw in viewers, but now there’s fear that much of the key footage with Packer and the wedding plotline is “irrelevant.”

There’s also concern that Packer could object to being featured on the show now, even though he already signed a release. Gossip Cop has reached out to E! and Carey’s rep for comments.
