A WATERFALLS man struck his former wife with an empty beer bottle after he saw her drinking beer with friends at a night club.

Tawanda Musemwa assaulted his former wife, Cathrine Manhambara accusing her of wasting his time and money when they were still a couple.

He pleaded guilty to physical abuse charges when he appeared before the Mbare magistrate Anita Tshuma Musemwa was sentenced to nine months in prison,three of which were suspended on for five years on condition that he does not commit a similar crime and he will effectively serve the remaining six.

This was after Prosecutor Tafara Chirambira proved that on January 30,Musemwa saw Manhambara having fun with friends at a night club in Waterfalls.

He broke a beer bottle confronted her holding the broken glass.When she told him to leave her alone he struck her on the face with the bottle and she sustained a deep cut on the forehead.

Musemwa tried to flee but he was apprehended by members of the public who took him to the police and helped Manhambara to seek medical attention.
