By Mcebisi NcubeThe re-election of Cuthbert Dube as ZIFA President was greeted with sadness and anger amongst most soccer fans ,soccer pundits and government officials.
But guess what that ZIFA elections have come and gone. All the hype on Cuthbert Dube’s salary, the stories about Trevor Carelse Juul being convinced by Sepp Blatter to contest, the bid to stop the elections, the alleged vote buying those are now water under the bridge.
Now it’s time to see what Cuthbert Dube will offer to ZIFA and perhaps prove the many critics wrong, and we pray and hope he does for the sake of Zimbabwe soccer
We wait to see how the Asiagate issue will finally be closed will be solved, we wait to see whether the national teams will be in camp on time, adequately funded and how they’ll fare especially with CHAN 2015 qualifiers just round the corner.
We wait to see whether Mr Dube will heed the parliamentary summons and wether the nation’s number one sport will be well managed.
In the interest of better football, lets wish him the best and hope he turns the nation’s fortunes around.
